In a family hotel by the north coast of Portugal, several women of different generations live together. In a relationship poisoned by bitterness, they try to eke out a living in a decaying space. The unexpected arrival of a grandchild to this claustrophobic living induces disturbances and the rekindling of latent grievances. Winner of the Silver Bear at the Berlinale, Bad Living is the first part of a diptych on anxiety, completed by Living Bad.
