Inspired by Dias Lourenço’s famous escape from Peniche Fort, A Fuga, depicts the daily life of a political prisoner during the years of fascism. From his sentencing, which ended with a beating at the hands of PIDE (secret police) agents, to his sea escape, which returned him to freedom and the resistance, the film denounces the oppressive prison system and raises questions about solidarity and idealism. This session closes the series of national screenings making the latest restoration project by FILMar.
