Puchuncaví, Jeannette Muñoz, Muñoz
Chile, exp., 2014–2024, 20’
Puchuncaví is a film, a collection of fragments that began in 2014. Fragments follow one another like heterogeneous and unrelated strata, revealing a multiplicity perceived only by wandering aimlessly through Puchuncaví and discovering a complex network of realities. The name of this former Native American site, on the Pacific coast of Chile, is a Mapudungún word that might be translated as “where fiestas abound”. It contrasts with the more recent industrial development of the area, that includes copper refineries, steam power plants and a shipping port.
Envios, Jeannette Muñoz
Chile, exp.,2005–2024, 20’
Envios are moments that the filmmaker dedicates and sends to friends. Envios is film that leaves film behind in order to become the emerging space of what has been, of what is and could be. Envios are differing spaces that cohabit, capable of meeting and coexisting only within the small and the singular. Envios are sequences, incidents, occurrences, fragments, moments, glimpses. Envios don't have objects nor subjects and are of heterogeneous provenance and motivations. Envios inhabit the intimate and the public at once. They have been developed with and/or for a person and will be presented in public.
Strata of Natural History, Jeannette Muñoz
Switzerland/Chile, exp., 2012, 12’
Archival images often resemble faint echoes of history. This film is a personal journey through the invisible and yet persistent traces and layers that resonate in a place, like echoes. There are echoes of the Kawéskar natives from Tierra del Fuego, photographed in Berlin in 1881 and exhibited in the Berlin Zoological Garden; there are echoes of a Greater Rhea (a flightless bird) from Tierra del Fuego at the Berlin Zoological Garden; there are echoes of bathers at the Fuente Alemana, a monument in Santiago de Chile; there are echoes of the city of Berlin.
