Supa Modo, Likarion Wainaina, 2019
–
This workshop is a space for discovering and experimenting with cinema as a unique way of looking at the world and, in particular, at the city. Supplied with a camera and microphone, participants aged 9 to 12 will make two short films in the vicinity of Batalha, giving them the opportunity to experience the various stages of a film’s production.
The practical exercises will be complemented by screening of several works, including short films made in Porto by the city’s filmmakers, and theoretical sessions on the language of the moving image. In this journey through the history of cinema, participants will be introduced to several pioneers, learn more about the cinematograph invented by the Lumiére brothers, and discover how Aurélio da Paz dos Reis, from Porto, brought the medium of film to Portugal.
The workshop will be led by the director Amarante Abramovici.
