Caprice, Joanna Hogg, 1986
Some people linger in the movie theatre to watch the film’s credits, to gain a better understanding of how it was shot. Some remain to pay tribute to the cast and crew, or to take advantage of the silence to think about what they have just seen. But others merely wait to confirm whether they have correctly identified the styling assistant because of that centre-parting hairstyle they saw earlier on.
The quizmasters are Guilherme Cobretti and Jay Toso — infamous names in the Porto circuit of quick questions and slow answers. They will question the most obsessive side of each person’s love of film. On the last Tuesday of each month, Batalha’s Cafetaria & Bar will become an arena where the guest teams will test their knowledge of the world of cinema. Many of the questions will intersect with Batalha’s programme, so it’s a good idea to be a regular attendee at the screenings!
To take part, you simply have to show up. It’s free of charge, with no registration. There will be prizes for the winners, but the true reward will be the right to boast about your victory — at least until the following month.
