Programme:
The famous French philosopher Gilles Deleuze divided cinema into two categories: movement-image and time-image. Building on these ideas, Thom Andersen explores the history of cinema in a non-linear fashion. Through excerpts from both classic and contemporary films, the filmmaker celebrates the power of the moving image to provoke thought, challenge traditional narratives, and offer a critical reflection on cinema’s influence on culture and our perception of the world.
Screening preceded by a talk with José Gil (philosopher and essayist) and Nuno Crespo (researcher and art critic) — with Portuguese Sign Language
