Programme:
An organic combination of documentary and science fiction, The Last Angel of History presents the figure of a researcher who travels through time to discover relics of African American culture, thereby discovering a path towards an Afrocentric future. This premise is the starting point for several interviews with African American and African British creators, such as Kodwo Eshun, George Clinton, Gerald Rydel Simpson or Octavia E. Butler. Directed by John Akomfrah, one of the most influential artists of our time, the film is a landmark of Afrofuturism. Akomfrah co-founded the Black Audio Film Collective, and has recently been a programmer at the Fórum do Futuro.
