Programme:
The lush landscape of the Azores serves as the backdrop to an environmental crisis that forces all inhabitants to evacuate the island. But this crisis has nothing to do with nuclear contamination or active volcanoes. Instead, hydrangeas, the symbol of the Atlantic archipelago and also an invasive species, have spread everywhere, threatening all other species. We follow two soldiers as they carry out the evacuation orders and question, in shades of melancholic lilac, their place on the islands and even the very meanings of identity and community.
