Ada (Holly Hunter), a talented pianist and single mother, is sold into marriage to a colonist land-owner (Sam Neill) in New Zealand. She despises him, of course, and warms instead to a local Maori, played by Harvey Keitel. All hell breaks loose. For the mountain made of Kurt Cobain’s life and death, it’s curious that no attention has been paid between the parallels of the film and his life as a musician ‘trapped’. Before he hit his last bar, he had his last banana-based dessert, and watched this, his last movie.
