The architects’ movement, SAAL, Local Ambulatory Support Service (1974–1976), was preceded by a series of popular demonstrations that demanded affordable housing for low-income families, who until then had primarily lived in so-called “barracas” (shacks). Houses for the People follows the entire process in the city of Porto, from the initial protests to the technical brigades that built the houses. A fragmented, subjective and necessary vision of a fast-paced revolutionary process.
