Programme:
This experimental short film by Rose Lowder features scenes from Beijing in May 1988, one year before the protests at Tiananmen Square. Through this work, the filmmaker contrasts Chinese philosophy and cultural traditions with the political and economic ambitions of the State, offering a contemplative and critical perspective on the social transformations in China at the time. The soundtrack, which gives the film a thoughtful mood, was composed by François Alexis Degrenier.
