Sack Barrow explores the life of a small family factory on the outskirts of London. Founded in 1931, the factory’s original purpose was to employ injured ex-soldiers suffering from physical deficiencies. However, in 2010 it filed for bankruptcy. This short film captures the daily routine of six workers during its final month of operation, revealing how the years of chemical and mineral processes have moulded the space, turning it into an almost fantastical world. The final part of the film features a reading of a passage from the novel The Green Child by Herbert Read, which poetically connects the film’s images with the idea of transformation and closure.
