Programme:
Narrated in the first person, through the voice and body of Lolo Arziki, from Cape Verde, this film approaches the director’s intimate experience as a woman in a historically patriarchal, religious and colonial society and culture. The confessional, performed tone of the narrative builds a complex and involving web of relations between variables of identity: being a woman, Black and homo-affective. But it is also notable for its formal aspects — like the breaking of the fourth wall or the visible editing — with which Arziki aims to assert the visibility of a gaze different from the dominant one.
