Made during the first year of Gonzalez’s master’s degree in Directing at the Royal College of Art, London, Nestor focusses on the titular character, a man who has several obsessive-compulsive behaviours and lives on an unsteady houseboat that is always lurching in the waves. Influenced by the director’s own experience with the symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder, Nestor was shown at 116 festivals worldwide, winning 14 awards including Best Film at CINANIMA in 2019. João Gonzalez wrote the soundtrack with Miguel Teixeira.
