Jacir’s undeniably personal debut feature film sees the director also take on the lead acting role. Salt of This Sea follows Soraya, a young Palestinian-American woman born in Brooklyn, on a quest for justice in the country where her parents were born. Seeking to recover the small amount of money her grandmother left her in her will, and finding herself confronted by oppressive occupying forces, she decides to conspire to take back by force what has been denied to her by right.
