Zé, 50 years old, works in the Lisbon dockyards. He dreams of going away, leaving his wife and the neighbourhood where he lives. For a long time he has been discreetly saving up for a trip to Switzerland. He already knows which boat he will take, the date and time of departure. But one day when he returns from work, he discovers that his wife has used his savings to buy a modern washing machine. The filmmaker’s second film to be selected for the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, it was also awarded the prize for Best Portuguese Short Film at Curtas Vila do Conde.
