In an apparently abandoned metal factory, a labourer works meticulously. He knows the right steps to handle the material, aided by the sophisticated knowledge of his computer. Delicately, he manufactures the final piece for his work. And then his job is done. One of the greatest examples of Patrick Mendes' iconoclastic work, filmed in 16mm, Sleepwalkers pursues the ritualistic investigations of a punk and arid cinema, questioning the role of humanity in an increasingly automated world.
