A poetic black and white portrait of the director’s grandmother and the house where she always lived. Casa is Gil Mata’s most experimental and ethereal work, with visual and sound distortions. It presents traces of the memories and ghosts that inhabit this house. Shots of the different rooms, religious images, fluttering curtains, family photographs and his grandmother are intimately captured on film, in an engaging cinematic exercise of light and shadow. Two years later, his grandmother and her house inspired his feature film, Cativeiro.
