Programme:
Fernando Matos Silva’s film consists of images captured in Guinea-Bissau (1969–1970) during the colonial war and in the suburbs of Lisbon (1975–1976) during the revolutionary period, accompanied by a soundtrack featuring music by Fausto Bordalo Dias and Balanta and Bijagos groups. In this essay-film, which questions the colonisation process in what was then known as Portuguese Guinea, Matos Silva uses allegory to analyse discursive narratives mixing references from geopolitics, economics, science and culture.
