Programme:
Released towards the end of the 1920s, at the peak of the European avant-garde, Un chien andalou was developed through a partnership between Luis Buñuel and the painter Salvador Dalí, who co-wrote the screenplay. The result is a disturbing, fragmented compilation of oneiric, metaphorical scenes that evoke a surrealist dream. Striking and provocative, to this day the film remains one of the most daring experiments in cinema. This 4K restoration was developed at the Hiventy laboratory by Cinémathèque Française and Filmoteca Espanhol, in collaboration with Les Grands Films Classiques.
