Programme:
David Cronenberg’s debut film shows that his interest in the human psyche goes back to his youth. Named in reference to Freud’s concept of transference, the director described the film as a surreal sketch featuring two people — a psychiatrist and a patient — seated at a table set for dinner, in the middle of a field covered by snow. Written, shot, produced, edited and directed by Cronenberg, Transfer is a diamond in the rough, where solitude gains form in the film’s inhospitable setting.
