In long, slow paced shots, we follow Jim on his final day of work before retiring. As a watchman at the abandoned ruins of a charcoal mine in Scotland, the backdrop to Jim’s daily routine is grey, dismal, without variation. But the end of his career promises an unwanted change — that of imagining how to remake what had been defined and crushed by the lifelong routine of employment.
