Programme:
The “cinematic action” Omelia Contadina arose from the preoccupation the filmmaker and French artist JR share concerning the difficulties faced by small farmers and residents of the Alfina plateau, in Italy, as they struggle against multinationals and agroindustry. In this work, a rural community comes together at the border between three regions (Umbria, Lazio and Tuscany) to hold a funeral for traditional agriculture, in an attempt to forestall the disappearance of this millennia-old culture. The film was shown at Venice and at the Festival Lumière in Lyon.
