Programme:
With its intimate lo-fi aesthetic, Me and Rubyfruit is a video diary exploring identity, desire and sexuality through the eyes of a young queer person. Created by the experimental artist Sadie Benning when they were only 16 years old, and using a Fisher-Price PixelVision camera, the film combines granulated images, poetic narratives and confessions to build a portrait of self-discovery and acceptance. Inspired by the novel by Rita Mae Brown, this short film is a milestone in queer cinema and an affirmation for those seeking their place in the world.
