The documentary Maid Servant follows a group of house workers in the city of Pune, India. Several interviews expose oppressive work environments, a lack of proper working conditions and humiliations these women are subjected to daily. The group features hundreds of women that gathered to form an organization that fought for their rights. First, with a strike that spread across several cities, and then with regular meetings which gave rise to a manifesto meant to regulate the workers' terms of service and perks.
