On a lake that is strangely surrounded by buildings and roads, a man lives in a boat with his wife’s body. Oblivious to society, despite it being so close by, he spends his days with the corpse that he looks after, tormented by his tender memories from the past. With meticulous cinematography and art direction, Arca d’Água is the director’s first film. It offers a glimpse of some of the main themes of his filmography, such as the effect of time, love and loss, or the tragic and inescapable cyclical movement of life.
