Two teenage friends share the antics of daily life. They are fascinated by hunting and, on their wanderings, visit a swamp where various hunters can be seen at work. Suddenly, one of them falls into the mud and the other runs in search of help. In the vertigo of the moment, various men join together to save the boy. Will they succeed? A work of tension and violence, A Caça saw Manoel de Oliveira approach a modern kind of cinema, in which Man has to confront his own cruelty. The version we screen contains two endings — including the one that the censors removed, believing the film to be “too pessimistic”.
