With a desire to rekindle a connection going back to the 40s, Batalha has invited Cineclube do Porto to revive the matinée format that for decades was a mainstay at the cinema. This new programme interprets the history and role of the Cineclube for the city and country from its foundation through to today.
Every two weeks on Sundays, we will dedicate a session to a key moment in the life and operation of the oldest film club in Portugal. These sessions are presented by members of the Cineclube who will reveal the relevance of each chosen film to the history of the institution.

In September, the Cineclube returns with screenings of films from the 1980s, continuing the reflection on the presence of female directors in cinema programming of the time. For our screenings in October, we gave carte blanche to the Cineclube 8mm project, organised by Cineclube do Porto and Casa da Animação and programmed by children between 8 and 16 years old, which proposes a historical look at the Cineclube’s children’s programming. In November, Cineclube recovers the old programme America... America..., focused on a thriving period of American independent cinema.
